Project Overview

Queen Anne's County Comprehensive Plan Update (QAC Plan 2020)

The QAC Plan 2020 serves as a guide for the future growth, revitalization, preservation, and resilience of Queen Anne's County to ensure that the excellent quality of life enjoyed by its citizens will continue.  Through the planning process, county residents, business owners, and community

organizations help shape the future of Queen Anne’s County. County-

wide planning leads to compatible land uses, as well as transportation

networks, public facilities and parks. In addition, comprehensive

planning protects the county’s environmental and heritage resources.

Planning helps to ensure that Queen Anne’s County will continue to be

attractive, safe, and prosperous.

What is the difference between a comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance?

The Comprehensive Plan (QAC Plan 2020) generally guides land use and is an advisory document. The Zoning Ordinance is part of the County Code and regulates the type, scale and intensity of development which may occur in the specific zoning districts.

rezoning request form

The update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan provides an opportunity for property owners to have the zoning of their properties re-evaluated for a different zoning district. If they so choose, the Comprehensive Rezoning Request form needs to be completed and provided to Planning & Zoning.

Please click on the Comprehensive Rezoning Request to view instructions and PDF fillable form.

Public Outreach

Public outreach events will be held at various strategic planning area locations to enhance convenience for the public, number of meetings scheduled, and the understanding of community characteristics, values, issues, and opportunities that may be unique to each area.

Public outreach events will result in a refresh of a community-based vision derived from public participation.  Issues and opportunities will be identified and recorded for integration into the 2020 Plan.

In addition to the online survey, hard copies of the survey are also available

at the locations provided below.
